Ever since I was a little girl I have found great solace and joy in writing.....I wrote on pretty paper, my own home-made cards, in books, diaries and journals. Much to my parents relief, I was never tempted to take to the walls!?! You can find plenty of proof of my ravings in trunks and boxes scattered throughout the house! Writing has always somehow defined the journey for me. In fact I throw in pictures, color, textures and fragrance and the story is complete....I find there is something incredibly soulful in spontaneous variations of that melange.
I am currently preparing for my first Volunteer trip to a third world country. I am going with the hope that I can bring smiles and laughter, music and play to children who have no one in the world to love them! In that at least, we are kindred spirits as I do not have a family of my own. I want to see what life is like for them. I want to 'see'. I feel vulnerable, unprepared....like a little girl...standing on the shore! I only have two weeks to offer...it's not much. It's completely inadequate.....but it's something.
This picture says it all for me...
